    The effect of deposition environment conditions on the electrical and structural properties of deposited PbI2 layers were studied. The layers were deposited from solution under dark and room light illumination with and without applying magnetic field. XRD, electrical, and photo-electrical properties were measured at room temperature. An increase in the grain size versus the platelet area was noticed.The electrical properties revealed a dependence on deposition conditions. Dark conductivity increases from 1.7×10−10 to 5×10−9 (Ωcm)-1 when deposition was carried out in darkness.     In this study, we have established a scaffold by embedding poly (beta-hydroxybutyrate-co-beta-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) microspheres into poly (l-lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) matrix, according to their different solubility in acetone, with the aim of repairing bone defects. PLGA/PHBV scaffolds had good pore parameters, for example, the porosity of PLGA/30% PHBV scaffold can reach to 81.273 +/- 2.192%. Besides, the pore size distribution of the model was evaluated and the results revealed that the pore size mainly distributed between 50 mum and 200 mum. With increasing the amount of PHBV microspheres, the compressive strength of the PLGA/PHBV scaffold enhanced.     Chitosan-silica (CSSi) hybrid films have been fabricated by sol-gel process using tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) as precursor. The structure of the resulting hybrid has been characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Fracture surface has been revealed through a field emission-scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive spectrometer (FE-SEM/EDS) to probe the dispersion degree and the size of SiO2 particle. Study of morphology using a SEM micrograph and the High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) images of the nanocomposite films suggests that the SiO2 nanoparticles are within the range of 2–7 nm in diameter and are uniformly dispersed in the polymer matrix.     Abstract: Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between changes in the modulus of elasticity and ultimate tensile strength of one-step self-etch adhesives, and their degree of water sorption.Methods: Five one-step self-etch adhesives, Xeno IV (Dentsply Caulk), G Bond (GC Corp.), Clearfil S3 Bond (Kuraray Medical Inc.), Bond Force (Tokuyama Dental Corp.), and One-Up Bond F Plus (Tokuyama Dental Corp.) were used. Ten dumbelled-shaped polymers of each adhesive were used to obtain the modulus of elasticity by the three-point flexural bending test and the ultimate tensile strength by microtensile testing.     Authors: O'Brien BJ, Stinson JS, Larsen SR, Eppihimer MJ, Carroll WM The desire to reduce the strut thickness of cardiovascular stents has driven the development of a new high strength radiopaque alloy, based on additions of platinum to a chromium-rich iron based matrix. This paper reports on initial development of the alloy and the rationale for selection of the composition. Data is presented for tensile and microstructural characterization, surface oxide analysis, corrosion resistance and endothelial cell response of the alloy. The results demonstrate the solid solution strengthening effect of the platinum, with an average yield strength of 480 MPa achieved.
